Freemasons’ Lodges in this country are usually held in the evening, but not in the case of Southend Daylight Lodge where meetings are held in the morning, usually starting at 10:30. Three meetings are held each year in February, June and October (installation) at Saxon Hall, Aviation Way, Southend-on-Sea.

Members comprise Brethren who are well experienced over many years in the Craft together with other who are less so, but who make their own special fresh contribution to the life of the Lodge. Indeed, of the current members there are three initiates who have progressed to the Master’s chair.
Consecration was in 2000, there being twenty seven Founders, and the Lodge was the second of its kind to be formed in the Province of Essex. There are now twelve such Lodges in Essex and each year one Lodge hosts a cluster meeting of Daylight Lodges at its usual meeting place. Southend Daylight is proud to have been the first Lodge in the Province to have hosted such a meeting in 2006 at Saxon Hall.
The Lodge badge emphasises the sun, and thus the light of the day, and also Southend Pier which has featured prominently in the life of Southend-on-Sea since 1829. Although many years younger than that of course, the Lodge features prominently in the life of Southend Freemasonry and will continue to do so.
Freemasonry in general supports charities both Masonic and non-masonic. The Lodge cheerfully embraces that support, for example being a Patron of the Essex Grand Charity Festival 2011, not forgetting its concern for non-masonic charities particularly those local to Southend.
Southend Daylight is a successful Lodge which continues to attract members whether already Freemasons or those seeking to join Freemasonry. Enquiries for membership will be received enthusiastically by the Secretary, Cliff Catling by e-mail on firstname.lastname@example.org
